• Tony Biggin

 

 

After studying music at the University of Wales, Tony Biggin became a teacher, developing a strong commitment to the encouragement of creativity for all. He has subsequently worked in all phases of education including the university sector, where he was head of department for 8 years. He was director of the East Sussex Music Service between 2005 and 2013.

In parallel with his work in music education he has worked as a freelance composer, musician and producer and performances of his work have taken place in prestigious venues such as London’s Royal Festival Hall, with ensembles including the London Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also collaborated with distinguished soloists including Bryn Terfel and Evelyn Glennie and his music has been commercially recorded and broadcast widely. During the past 18 months his work has been performed in America, Africa and Europe as well as the UK.

• Peter Chivers

 

 

Peter Chivers studied at Dartington College of Arts, gained a Music Degree at Huddersfield University and studied at post-graduate level in Advanced Performance at the Royal Academy of Music, subsequently completing a Post Graduate Certificate in Education at Kingston University.He is presently Head of Music and Arts for Brighton & Hove’s award winning SoundCity music hub. His background spans the arts, music and education and he has received the Cultural Champion Award from Arts & Business. Peter is a Director of Rhythmix, a music charity that works with young people in challenging circumstances, and he was a Director of the National Association of Music Educators for four years. He also sits on the Arts Council England’s Music Education Hub advisory board and contributes to the wider cultural agenda. As a trumpeter he has performed with ensembles including the London Mozart Players, Orchestra of Europe and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Peter continues to teach and work with young musicians and presently conducts the Brighton & Hove Youth Big Band.

• Jane Humberstone

 

 

Having led a successful secondary music department for many years, Jane Humberstone moved to East Sussex Music Service in 2007 where she is now Curriculum Development Manager overseeing the quality of the music curriculum in schools and the Instrumental Service. As Secondary Curriculum Chair for the Music Mark (the UK Association of Music Educators Jane keeps up to date with the latest in music education developments. Previous roles have included Lead Subject Adviser for the National Curriculum (South East). She has also engaged with and delivered INSET for the Planning and Assessment in the New Curriculum, the KS3 Music Programme, Exemplification of Standards and Assessment for Learning.

In her spare time, Jane plays cornet with Lewes, Glynde and Beddingham Brass Band.

• Mike Delpeache

 

 

Mike has been an HR practitioner for 14 years having previously worked at Sainsbury’s and Eurostar. He is currently the UK HR Manager for a Japanese Logistics Company based in Tokyo; a role he has had since 2007. He has a Masters Degree in Employment Law and is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.Away from his day job he has worked as a mentor and adviser in two East London Schools; and as a part time lecturer in HR at Greenwich and London Metropolitan universities respectively (2009/10 & 2010/11).
He has dabbled in music down the years, having sung and played guitar with a variety of bands. He is now part of an acoustic duo, playing between London and Hastings when the time allows. Among his other leisure interests are Coronation Street and Sky Sports News.
Grew up in Hastings, East Sussex and now living in East London. Before and in between he has lived and/or studied in the West Indies, France, Brighton and Preston.

• Jeremy Mills

 

 

Jeremy Mills, Notary is Managing Director of Mills Keep Ltd, who provide global asset strategy advice for clients using their tax and legal expertise. The service is highly personal where clients benefit from bespoke documentation appropriate for their business, family or private circumstances required, by using the firms’ specialist knowledge. Jeremy is a member of the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and a member of the Charity Law Association. Jeremy is currently a trustee of three charities: Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy, Rhythmix and Dorset Community Foundation. He is a director of Dorset Business Angels who help entrepreneurs finance their business with ideas from a network of investors. Jeremy is active in the Home Counties, London and Dorset whilst servicing clients from across the UK and overseas.

• Philip Trumble MA, GGSM, PGCE, FRSA

 

 

Philip studied piano, guitar and composition at the Guildhall and after a PGCE in Cambridge embarked upon a career in Music & Arts Education. As a secondary teacher he pioneered the use of music technology. Whilst Richmond Music Trust’s first Chief Executive, an interest in the arts as a therapeutic tool led him to establish a music therapy service. He served on the board of Creative Response – a charity providing arts activities for adults with mental health, drug and alcohol problems and is Head of Surrey Arts and Chair of the Surrey Music Hub. In his spare time he composes music for stage, film and TV and is credited with writing one of the first musicals about the Titanic disaster that pre-dated both the Broadway and film versions. He is a passionate advocate for the power of music and the arts and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
