The Pilot Programme
In October 2013, Rhythmix embarked on a mentoring project in Surrey.
The aim was to improve the musical, personal and social development and life chances of children and young people in challenging circumstances in Surrey through music-based mentoring, and to support growth in the practice of music-based mentoring across the partner organisations.
The mentoring programme was incredibly successful, highlighting the huge potential for this kind of work for Rhythmix and the young people it helps. Rhythmix would like as many young people as possible have the chance to get music mentoring.
Through this project 12 mentors have been trained and 13 young people from challenging circumstances have received targeted music based mentoring. Three mentees and their tutors are featured on this website.
