Vote for Music

We have been nominated for the Best Arts Project in the National Lottery Awards 2016. Rhythmix has been selected from 600 nominations to compete in a public vote from 22 June against six other projects to win £3000.  You can vote to support us at this link: http://bit.do/voterhythmix

Rhythmix is a charity that provides free music making sessions to children, young people and older people with dementia across the South East of England. Our professional music leaders have helped thousands of people in challenging circumstances, transforming lives through music. The award comes as the charity celebrates its 17th year of work in the community.

Rhythmix supports children and young people with disabilities, special educational needs and learning disabilities, in hospitals, hospices, with experiences of domestic abuse and looked-after children. Rhythmix also works with adults with dementia. Rhythmix makes sure all people, especially those excluded from traditional music education, can make music in a way that benefits them and that they enjoy.

Rhythmix CEO, Mark Davyd, said “Our work changes so many lives by giving vulnerable people the chance to make music.  We’re delighted to have got through to the finals of The National Lottery Awards.  It’s easy to vote, so we’re hoping all our supporters will help us be crowned the UK’s best arts project.”

“My heart skips a beat when I hear the Musicians on the ward because I know Liam will get a moment of real quality interaction. He is visually impaired so music has always been important to him. The project makes all the difference to our stay” - Chrissie, talking about her son Liam, at The Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, Brighton.

Rhythmix uses music for more than just fun; it’s a tool that raises self-confidence, reduces stress, promotes self-expression and helps people to start a new chapter in their lives.
